Price Reporter's 2026 Performance and Capability Report draws on just over $1 billion in federal and SLED orders and five years of contract awards to show how government buyers pay, when they buy, and where purchasing is moving.
ENGLEWOOD, N.J., Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Federal suppliers are moving a growing share of government sales onto storefronts they own, according to the 2026 Performance and Capability Report published by Price Reporter, a GSA consulting and technology firm. Across the company's client base, about 5% of federal and state, local and education (SLED) order volume now arrives through open-market and client-owned channels rather than marketplace listings. Among leading clients, that share approaches 50%.
The report draws on just over $1 billion in federal and SLED orders processed through the Price Reporter order management system in 2026 to date, over $4 million on an ordinary day and more than 1 million orders a year, together with five years of contract award records. It is the first time the firm has published its operating figures. All data is aggregate and contains no client-identifying information.
Key findings on how government buys:
- About 60% of orders settle by credit card at the moment of purchase. The remaining 40% arrive on NET30 terms, by wire or by check, across 10 supported payment gateways.
- The average GSA Advantage micro-purchase order through the system is $536. For context, GSA reported a $326 average order on its Commercial Platforms Program in FY2025, a channel where repeat buyers rose from 56% to 83%.
- August and September carry more than 25% of annual dollar volume, a pattern that has held every year for five years without exception, as agencies obligate funds before the September 30 fiscal year-end.
- Supplier-owned storefronts, including custom sites, Shopify stores and government portal front ends, average about 5% of client volume, with some clients near 50%.
- Price Reporter expects to phase out EDI catalog uploading to GSA entirely in early 2027 if GSA continues transitioning contracts to the FAS Catalog Platform.
Key findings on contract awards:
- Averaged over the past five years, Price Reporter clients win more than 40 IDIQ contracts and more than 20 BPAs a year, about one award every seven to ten days, across standard MAS offers, Streamlined offers, VA Federal Supply Schedule contracts, joint ventures and BPAs.
- More than half of the companies awarded positions on the $1.3 billion GSA MRFS2 BPA in 2024 and on the $2.3 billion GSA OS5 Requisition Channel BPA are Price Reporter clients.
- The firm crossed 1,000 company clients in 2024. The base runs roughly one large business for every ten small ones and includes eight Fortune 500 companies.
"Most firms in this business treat their numbers as a trade secret, and a firm without strong numbers is better off saying nothing," said Igor London, Founder and President of Price Reporter. "We decided to publish ours in aggregate because a company choosing a consultant deserves more than adjectives. And the number suppliers should care about is not our award count. It is that a quarter of the year's federal business lands in a sixth of its days, and 40% of it is invoiced and reconciled weeks after the order. The work that protects that quarter happens in the spring."
The report also covers client awards on multi-state cooperative vehicles including OMNIA Partners, NASPO ValuePoint and Sourcewell, direct state contracts in New York, Texas, Virginia and Delaware, the 50 live integrations connecting the order management system to federal marketplaces, distributors and payment gateways, and three vehicles currently in progress: DLA TLS ($10 billion ceiling), DLA ECAT medical supplies (about $6 billion ceiling) and GSA OASIS+.
The report complements Price Reporter's Federal Market Intelligence Report FY2026, which analyzes GSA Advantage sales by agency, category and product. Figures from both reports may be quoted with attribution to Price Reporter and a link to the source page.
