Entrepreneur Steven Weiss has officially launched Narcan Rescue, an innovative public health initiative designed to expand access to naloxone (Narcan)—a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses—in communities that need it most.
(PRUnderground) April 28th, 2026
With opioid overdoses continuing to impact families and neighborhoods across the United States, Narcan Rescue aims to provide no cost immediate, stigma-free access to life-saving medication through strategically placed vending machines in high-traffic areas such as transit hubs, city streets, and community centers.
A Personal Mission Turned Public Solution
The inspiration behind Narcan Rescue is deeply personal.
After witnessing the devastating effects of overdoses throughout the New York City area, Weiss knew something had to change. That urgency intensified when his wife encountered a man lying unresponsive on the ground during her commute—someone who urgently needed Narcan.
Moments like these highlight a critical gap: life-saving medication exists, but access in real-time emergencies is often limited.
Narcan Rescue was built to bridge that gap.
How It Works
Narcan Rescue vending machines will:
- Provide easy, 24/7 access to naloxone
- Be placed in high-risk and high-traffic locations
- Offer a fast, user-friendly interface to obtain medication during emergencies
- Help reduce overdose fatalities by eliminating barriers to access
The goal is simple: put Narcan where it’s needed most—before it’s too late.
A Call to Action
Narcan Rescue is currently raising funds to support the development, deployment, and expansion of its first machines. Community support will directly impact how quickly these life-saving resources can reach the public.
