GATINEAU, QC, May 19, 2026 /CNW/ - The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)

officials will hold a virtual technical briefing to discuss the CRTC's ongoing work to implement the modernized Broadcasting Act. The briefing will cover decisions related to the creation and distribution of Canadian programming in the audio-visual sector, as well as the discoverability of Canadian and Indigenous content.

Notes

  • Media representatives who wish to have access to the embargoed documents and attend must register with the CRTC by emailing media@crtc.gc.ca to obtain a copy of the embargo agreement. A completed and signed copy of this agreement must be returned by email to media@crtc.gc.ca to confirm registration by 10:00 a.m. EDT on May 21, 2026.  
  • Once registration is confirmed, the Microsoft Teams link will be distributed by email before 1:00 p.m. EDT on May 21, 2026. 
  • Media who agree to the embargo will receive documents under embargo at 2:00 p.m. EDT on May 21, 2026, via Microsoft Teams.  
  • A formal media briefing will begin at 3:30 p.m. and journalists will have the opportunity to pose questions to CRTC officials on a for attribution basis. Media representatives are asked not to rebroadcast this briefing in whole or in part.   
  • By participating, media understand and agree to the terms of the embargo. The embargo on the documents and information provided will remain in effect until lifted by CRTC officials. Participants will not publicly discuss or release the materials or information in any manner, including seeking comment from industry representatives, and social media until the embargo is lifted. 
  • Should the terms of the embargo be breached, participants and/or their organizations may not be permitted to participate in future CRTC embargoed briefings.
