Go! Glass & Accessories has reached the first anniversary of the expansion that increased its Calgary premises to approximately 10,000 square feet, a change the business says has expanded the range of automotive glass work it can complete on-site. The expansion was finished in 2025 at the company's southeast Calgary location, where a team of fourteen now works.
Go! Glass & Accessories provides auto glass repair and replacement for drivers across Calgary, covering windshields as well as door glass, quarter glass, vent glass, rear glass, and sunroof and roof glass. That work is carried out on passenger vehicles, light trucks, semi-trucks, RVs, and motorhomes, where floor area becomes an operational question rather than a cosmetic one. A tractor unit or a motorhome cannot be worked on properly without room to move around a panel and support it while it is being set.
The additional floor area was allocated to bays, glass storage, and controlled indoor conditions. Replacement glass is bonded to the vehicle body with urethane adhesive, which cures to a specified strength before the vehicle can be driven, and that cure depends on temperature and moisture being held within a set range. Technicians at the business hold a Dow urethane certification covering the adhesive systems used on replacement work.
"Space was the thing holding us back before we expanded," said Remon Toma, Owner of Go! Glass & Accessories. "Most customers come to us thinking about the windshield, and windshields are the bulk of what we do, but we get asked for door glass, quarter glass and sunroof glass as well. A semi truck or a motorhome needs room around it before anyone can do that job the way it should be done."
Semi-truck, RV, and motorhome glass is handled on-site, and those jobs generally have longer lead times due to panel size and glass availability. Alongside private vehicle owners, the business serves fleet operators, dealerships and commercial customers, for whom the timing of the work matters as much as the work itself.
The glass types differ in what they ask of a workshop. Door and quarter glass sit in mechanisms and mouldings that have to come apart and go back together, rear glass carries elements bonded into the panel, and sunroof and roof glass are worked on with the vehicle level and the opening supported throughout. Those requirements are a major reason the range is handled at a fixed site rather than entirely on the road.
Shop bays and mobile units run simultaneously rather than in sequence. Vehicles that need indoor conditions are booked into the bays, while jobs that can be completed at a customer's location are sent out. Repairs can be completed the same day, which rests on both sides of the operation running in parallel rather than one waiting on the other.
The premises sit in the Douglasdale and Douglas Glen area of southeast Calgary, a short distance from the Bow River. Drivers travel to the site from across the city and the surrounding area, and vehicles are brought in when the work calls for conditions that cannot be reproduced on a driveway. Glass type, vehicle size, and weather all inform that decision.
"Keeping a vehicle indoors matters more than it sounds," Remon Toma added. "Urethane needs the right conditions to cure, and if it is too cold or too damp, the bond is not what it is supposed to be. That is why some of this work stays at the shop instead of going out, and having a building big enough to hold the vehicle is what makes it possible."
A year on from the expansion, the premises give the business the room to take on the vehicle types and glass types that require it, from a sunroof panel on a passenger car through to a windshield on a highway tractor.
